The Casino Mine Ranch Winery grows and bottles ten estate wines in the Shenandoah Valley AVA of Amador County, California: Rhône, Italian and Spanish grapes first planted in 2012 on granite and quartz soils in the Sierra Foothills.
Winemakers Andy Erickson, Jessica Tarpy Shaheen and Nick Finarelli make every wine from our own fruit, from our own cellar.

Rosé & White
Réserve Rosé
The 2025 Réserve Rosé from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a dry, Provence-style rosé of estate Grenache Noir and Vermentino from the Shenandoah Valley AVA. It took Double Gold, Best of Class and 97 points at the 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. $38.
The sixth vintage of our Réserve Rosé is a nod to the classic rosés of Southern France, where Rolle, otherwise known as Vermentino, is frequently amongst the cast of characters, along with Grenache noir. Well-received in 2019, we opted to continue this experiment with the stunning Vermentino block at our fingertips on the ranch.

Greco
The 2025 Greco from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a 100% estate-grown Greco, the ancient white grape of Campania, from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, fermented in stainless steel. It is one of the few commercially produced Grecos in California. Silver medal, 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. $40, allocated to Wine Club members first.
White wine started here as Sauvignon Blanc. After a few vintages that did not land, we grafted to Greco in 2019. It didn’t take long before it found its place and became a favorite among our Club members. Thought to have arrived in Southern Italy with the Greeks nearly 3,000 years ago, this rare grape is night-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, and fermented in stainless steel to preserve its brightness. Unmistakably built for summer, it bursts with lemon zest, candied peel, orange blossom, and jasmine, finishing with minerality and refreshing length.
Production is limited and currently reserved for our Wine Club members. The same grape, from the same block, also appears under our Flicka label, named for Simone’s German Shepherd.

Vermentino
The 2024 Vermentino from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a dry, 100% estate-grown Vermentino from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, fermented in stainless steel with no oak. It was named Best of Amador in the Italian category at the 2026 Amador County Fair and has medaled at the San Francisco Chronicle and Sunset competitions. The 2023 vintage scored 91 points from Jeb Dunnuck. $30.
Rich and Joan fell for Vermentino in the old Roman walled city of Orvieto (we know… nowhere near Sardinia). This Sierra Nevada Vermentino is a whole different kettle of fish, vigorous and bountiful, soft yet crisp. Our ice-cold nights and sun-soaked days bring out its brightness. It drinks best after a year in the bottle, when it releases its pretty aromatics and flavorful notes of mangosteen, lemon meringue, and grapefruit pith.

Grenache Blanc
The 2022 Grenache Blanc from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a 100% estate-grown Grenache Blanc from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, fermented and aged fourteen months in neutral French oak with extended bâtonnage. The 2023 and 2024 vintages both took Gold at the 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. $38.
The first time Rich and Joan tasted Grenache Blanc, in the Santa Ynez Valley, they were informed that it “goes great with rattlesnake.” Well, that settled it: We had to plant it here. It makes a juicy, tannic, trenchant white with a mouthfeel like butter and a long finish spiced with cinnamon. It’s more about minerality than fruit, and more gold than clear, which feels right to us since it’s grown over an old gold mine. It is magnificent in its richness.

Red
Mourvèdre
The 2022 Mourvèdre from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a 100% estate-grown Mourvèdre from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, our largest planting on the ranch, aged in partial new and neutral French oak. Best of Class at the Amador County Fair and Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. $52.
Unlike those ornery ink pots from Bandol, our Mourvèdre is earthy and straightforward, calling to mind the elusive wild Sierra currant and the rugged granite that forms those mountain peaks. It’s the sort of beverage you’d want to take to the pond just over the ridge. While you’re skewering a raw chicken liver on your hook and dropping your line into the water for catfish, dunk that bottle of Mourvèdre in the water, too, and let it chill. There is really nothing better than this.

Gold, 91 points, 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition and Best of Class at the Amador County Fair. The 2022 vintage scored 90 points from Jeb Dunnuck. $50.
Our Estate vineyard produces a Grenache Noir with depth and singular typicity. The warm California sunshine allows this wine to achieve ideal ripeness while the significant diurnal shifts, temperature differential from day to night, endow the grapes with a distinct freshness and lively fruit flavors. Fermented on the skins for twenty-one days, our Grenache Noir is aged in 30% new French oak, with the balance in neutral French oak, for 10 months to capture the freshness and spirit of the vineyard.

Tempranillo
The 2021 Tempranillo from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a 100% estate-grown Tempranillo from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, aged fourteen months in French oak, 30% new. Gold, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The 2022 vintage, releasing fall 2026, took Gold and 92 points at the 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. $52.
Rich and Joan drank a life-altering Tempranillo in Barcelona, at the Zona d’Ombra, and decided that they had to plant it here. It’s our best-behaved vine variety. It ripens beautifully. We break with Spain and put it in French (not American) oak in an effort to refine it. All the same, its cowboy qualities cannot be stifled. We like to imagine Hollis and Sam Shaw, sitting by a campfire and clinking glasses of this red, saying, “¡Salud!”

Simone
Simone is the flagship red of The Casino Mine Ranch Winery: an estate-grown blend of Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, named for Simone Vanophem Shaw, who bought the ranch as a gold-mining gamble in 1936. The 2023 vintage took Gold and 93 points at the 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. $75.
The Simone is a succulent, spicy, seductive blend of Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre. Like its namesake, it’s elegant yet tough, and brims with joie de vivre. It’s a wine for feasting, both opulent and earthy, best enjoyed while wearing dungarees and boots. Or, alternately, diamonds, furs, and pearls. Simone would serve it alongside her famous Belgian Stew. Simone was a force of nature and we believe she would have been very, very proud of this wine. (To be clear, though, Marcel would argue his wine is superior.)

Marcel
Marcel is the only Tempranillo and Teroldego blend we know of in California: 60% estate Tempranillo, 40% estate Teroldego, grown in the Shenandoah Valley AVA and aged eighteen months in French oak. The 2021 Marcel from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery took Double Gold and 97 points at the 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. Named for Marcel Tiquet, who looked after the ranch for more than sixty years. $75.
Here in the craggy foothills of the Sierra Nevada range, our Teroldego could be the rugged yokel cousin of the fruit grown by the relentless Elisabetta Foradori on the lush lower slopes of the Italian Dolomites. It’s pitch-black (it stains our hands when we work with it), with a juicy black-cherry simplicity that’s balanced by a thorny intensity. Added to our Tempranillo, it makes a wine that’s like the man himself: It’s tough as nails, but will melt your heart.

Zinfandel
The 2024 Zinfandel from The Casino Mine Ranch Winery is a 100% estate-grown Zinfandel from the Shenandoah Valley AVA, Amador County’s signature grape, grown on iron-rich volcanic soil and aged in French oak. Silver, 2026 Sunset International Wine Competition. The inaugural 2023 vintage took Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. $48.
We introduced our Zinfandel with the 2023 vintage, a year characterized by ideal hang-time and moderate summer ripening. This vibrant ruby wine opens with aromas of peach preserves, ripe cherries, and sweet tobacco. The warm flavors of cinnamon and sun-kissed raspberries remind us of the simple joys: good friends, hearty food, and the crackle of the fire. Its smooth finish, laced with spice, is like the last light of dusk fading over the view of the Sierra Foothills from the tasting room. Perfect with lamb chops fresh off the grill, this Zinfandel was made for gathering around the fire and savoring the moment.
